Your guide to properly cleaning designer wools hats

While it isn’t hard to clean designer wool hats, many fashion-forward men don’t know how to keep their collections in tip-top shape. Some tools are required, but consider them to be an important part of the maintenance process.

Here is our step-by-step guide to cleaning and caring for your designer wool hats:

  1. To clean a designer wool hat, brush the top and bottom counter-clockwise with a clean, soft bristle brush.
  2. Set your hat on its top or hang it from a peg/hat hook to help it retain its shape.
  3. If your hat gets wet, when you return home, shake off all of the excess water, allow it to dry, and then brush it clean the same way as explained in step #1.
  4. A steamer is a great way to shape and clean your hat, especially if it has become lumpy from being set aside in storage. Also, for heavy stains, we recommend the use of a powered cleaner.
